The Mary Course Challenge
In 2007, a fund was set up to commemorate the life and preserve the memory of Mary Course. Mary was a member of South Cambridgeshire District Council for Meldreth for 21 years and represented the Council on the Boards of the Cambridge and County Folk Museum and the Museum of Farmland Life at Denny Abbey.
The Mary Course Prize is awarded annually at Meldreth primary School. Prizes are awarded to pupils of Meldreth Primary School who have excelled in a project on Mary's interests and loves - the countryside, crafts, local history and the community.
Every year, the challenge theme changes and prizes have been awarded for essays, poems, paintings, photographs, maps, or models based on Meldreth life.
