Our Governors

Meldreth Primary School has a strong, supportive governing body committed to ensuring that the school provides all its pupils with the best education possible. The governing body provides strategic leadership and accountability.

Governors meet at least once a term as a full governing body and then additionally for sub-committees and governor training. Link governors and governor teams with specific responsibilities also undertake regular visits to the school to meet with staff and children.
Our three core responsibilities as Governors are:
  • Setting the school’s vision, ethos and strategic direction, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring statutory duties are met.
  • Holding the Headteacher to account for: the educational performance of the school and it’s pupils; behaviour and safety; and the performance management of the staff.
  • Ensuring financial solvency and probity with effective management of financial resources.
  • Emma Tidby

    Chair of Governors

My name is Emma Tidby and I am the Meldreth Primary School Chair of Governors. I am new to this role and am enjoying the challenges that it provides. I lead a team of passionate and enthusiastic governors who all work hard to ensure the governing body is focused on the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school and as the chair I work very closely with the Head teacher to support and challenge where appropriate.
I have been a governor for the past 6 years. I am also the Chair of the Children and Learning Committee, a member of the Standards Team and the Safeguarding and Child Protection link governor.
I am about to become a parent at school again, having had one child already complete his time at Meldreth Primary and another due to start in September.

  • Sasha Sasha Howard

I am Sasha Howard, Head teacher at Meldreth Primary and a School Governor.
I work in partnership with our Governors on all aspects of school life. I inform and advise the Governing body about children's progress and their levels of attendance and the quality of teaching and learning. It is very rewarding being part of such a dedicated and energetic group of governors who work tirelessly to make sure every child and their families have the best experience this school can offer.

  • Caroline Caroline Maskell

Hi, my name is Caroline Maskell, I am a Higher Level Teaching assistant at Meldreth Primary School. I have been lucky enough to have been a member of the school team since 2001.
No two days at school are the same; children breathe life into learning, keeping me on my toes! I work within a dedicated and hard- working team with our children at it’s the very centre; working hard to ensure that our pupils enjoy learning, gain self-assurance and flourish, giving them the self- confidence to grow and become independent learners.
I bring a different view of the school to the governor role, as I work across a number of age groups and am technical lead in the ICT team. This gives me the opportunity to see the school in action. I believe the school has a strong ethos and a fantastic relationship with the children and their families. I am passionate about each child being provided with a safe environment in which to be confident to question, explore and enjoy learning; allowing them to reach their full learning potential.
Away from school I love spending time with my family, (both my children had wonderful experiences during their time at Meldreth). I enjoy a good read, long walks and meeting up with friends.

  • Lyndsay Lyndsay Lees

  • Neil O'Regan

  • Paul Hopkins

I joined the team in mid-2017, after volunteering to get involved in school governance. Whilst I have no background in teaching or education (I am a scientist ‘by trade’), like many other parents, I like to help the school where I can.
Through challenging as appropriate, understanding opportunities and risks, I aim to ensure that the school leadership team has effective governance and is well placed to deliver the highest standard of education possible. Like many Dads out there, most of my spare time is spent playing football in the garden, cycling and DIY!

  • Sarah Helme

I am Sarah Helme the Chair of the Resources committee and the Link Governor for Personnel.
I currently work at the school as a Midday Supervisor, which gives we an insight into the school as a member of staff as well as being a parent of children at the school.
I work in partnership with the rest of the Governing Body on all aspects of school life. As the Link Governor for Personnel I offer HR advice to the Governing Body and audit practices within the school.
I enjoy working with such an enthusiastic group of governors who work hard to ensure the children achieve their best and enjoy their time at Meldreth Primary School.
