We are a small group of parents and teachers whose aims are to raise money for the school, and to run fun events for the children.
As a parent, you are automatically a member of the PTA when your child begins school and we encourage as many parents as possible to be involved in the PTA and to help with events – so please come along and join us.
In the past we have raised funds through carious events and activities such as our Back to School BBQ in September, our Christmas Hamper Raffle in November, our popular Quiz Night in March and we hold regular school discos for the children too.
The money we raise benefits all the children who attend the school. Much of the money is spent on helpful day-to-day things, and include our adventure playground, Trim Trail, staging for the hall, PE equipment, library books and furniture, reading books, musical instruments, audio-visual equipment, funding for visiting theatre groups and science workshops and refurbishment of the swimming pool area.
We meet around once a month during the school year (sometimes more when a major fundraising event is coming up) – the meetings are fairly informal and usually fun! We are always looking for new members, and would welcome you to come along to one of our meetings to find out more!
To find out more about up and coming events, please have a look at the school Diary of Events.
Charity law requires voluntary organisations such as ours with an annual income in excess of £5,000 to register with the Charity Commission for England and Wales. As a charity we must abide by Charity Commission rules and regulations and we are bound by a governing document referred to as our constitution. Our constitution sets out the rules about how we operate as a PTA and how we conduct ourselves. If you would like to see a copy of the constitution, please contact one of the Committee members.
Being a registered charity enables the PTA to:-
- Receive charitable donations from local and national companies
- Apply to grant-making charitable trusts; most charitable trusts will give grants only to groups formally recognised as charities
- Receive donations made through payroll giving and company matched giving schemes
- Apply for Gift Aid
If you have any questions that remain unanswered, please contact one of the committee members or your class teacher.
