Parent Information (Puffins)

Welcome to Puffin class!
We love to learn!
We are very busy getting to know each other and having fun exploring our indoor and outdoor classrooms.

Our class teachers are:
Mrs Franks  (Mondays and Tuesdays)
and Mrs Samways  (Wednesdays,Thursdays & Fridays).
Our teaching assistants are Mrs Jameson and Mrs Prince.
Your child will need their named PE kit, including blue/black shorts, white t-shirt and trainers and for safety reasons please remember that long hair needs to be tied back and earrings should not be worn on PE days. If it is outdoor games we are likely to go out when it is cold/damp so appropriate jogging bottoms and fleece/top will be needed. Please ensure all these items are named.
Meet the Team
Monday 11th February 2.30pm. Come in and have a look at our work.  We will have a few challenges for you to complete with the children and a chance to look at their learning journals and writing books.
Home Learning
Reading is important and therefore we expect you to hear your children read daily and make a brief note of how they got on in their reading records. Books and reading records are to be brought into school every day.
Children benefit from reading each book at least 2 times, once to decode and a second to reflect on what they have read.
Health and Attendance
Regular attendance at school is vital for your child’s education.

If your child is absent from school for any reason school needs to know. Please telephone the school by 9.15 a.m. on the first day of absence.

We need to know the reason (as schools are required to distinguish between authorised and unauthorised absence of pupils) and how long your child is likely to be off. Please ask your Doctor for advice regarding how long your child should be kept off school.

If medicine is prescribed, arrangements can only be made for the administration in school if the dosage is x4 daily. Parents are asked to complete a request form and all medicines must be handed to Mrs Robinson, in the original packaging, clearly labelled with date, contents, pupil’s name and dosage.

Our Family Support Worker in conjunction with our Education Welfare Officer is always available to give advice if required.
