Parent Page (Osprey)

Welcome to Osprey Class!

Hello and welcome to Osprey. We are the Year 3 class, who try to balance hard work with having fun! We like to put 100% into everything we do and support each other to be the best that we can be!

In Osprey Class, Miss McGinty is the lead teacher, alongside Mrs Maskell, who covers on Tuesday afternoons. Our main teaching assistants are Mrs Johns and Mr Hinton, and we also have further help and support from Mrs Lee and Mrs Taylor. We are also lucky to have Mrs Millington as our Spanish teacher on Wednesday mornings.

Meet the Team
Please see below for the termly topic overview, information on how to support your child at home and Osprey Class' weekly timetable.
Supporting your child at home:
Please look at the Year 3 expectations pages for what your child needs to know by the end of the academic year.
See below for documents and links to help you support your child with their learning.
Homework, Timetable and PE Days
Reading: All children should read for at least 15 minutes daily. Please talk to your child about what they have read and sign the reading record.
Spellings: The children are set spellings on Wednesdays, these should be practiced every day ready for the following week, when they will be tested.
Maths: Children need to be learning their times tables throughout the year, so practicing at home is a great idea. By the end of Year 3, we aim to know the 2, 5, 10, 3, 4, 6 and 8 times tables.
Homework: Children will be given ‘Signpost’ homework on a Wednesday and have 2 weeks to complete the tasks set - the due date will be on the top of the page. There will be two or three topic headings and children are asked to show what they know or what they can find out about each of the headings. All tasks should be recorded in their Homework Book. They will then have a week off before the next homework tasks are set.
Here is a helpful reminder for the week:
Daily: Reading records and books
Monday: PE kit.
Wednesday: Spellings; Homework when due.
Thursday: PE kit.
On PE days, your child will need their named PE kit, including: blue/black shorts, white t-shirt and trainers and for safety reasons please remember that long hair needs to be tied back and earrings should not be worn on PE days. If it is outdoor games we are likely to go out when it is cold/damp so appropriate jogging bottoms and fleece/top will be needed. Please ensure all these items are also named.
Health and Attendance
Regular attendance at school is vital for your child’s education.

If your child is absent from school for any reason school needs to know. Please telephone the school by 9.15 a.m. on the first day of absence.

We need to know the reason (as schools are required to distinguish between authorised and unauthorised absence of pupils) and how long your child is likely to be off. Please ask your Doctor for advice regarding how long your child should be kept off school.

If medicine is prescribed, arrangements can only be made for the administration in school if the dosage is x4 daily. Parents are asked to complete a request form and all medicines must be handed to Mrs Robinson, in the original packaging, clearly labelled with date, contents, pupil’s name and dosage.

Our Family Support Worker in conjunction with our Education Welfare Officer is always available to give advice if required.
