Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education

As part of our Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Curriculum we follow a comprehensive programme of PSHCE education. We believe that this approach helps to prepare our children for the opportunities and challenges they will encounter in adult life. It also helps them connect and apply the knowledge and skills they learn in all subjects to practical and real-life situations while helping them feel safe and secure enough to fulfil their academic potential.

We follow the Cambridgeshire PDP curriculum throughout all Key Stages which organises our teaching in the following topics:

Healthy and safer lifestyles

We follow a 2 year rolling programme for PSHCE, ensuring that on an annual basis within this children our taught about Anti-Bullying, Conflict Resolution and Sex and Relationship Education.

The aims of our work on Sex and Relationship Education:

  • Develop interpersonal and communication skills
  • Develop positive values and a moral framework that will guide their decisions and behaviour
  • Develop understanding of the value of stable relationships and family life as a positive environment for bringing up children
  • Respect themselves and others, their values, backgrounds, cultures and experiences
  • Develop loving, caring relationships based on mutual respect
  • Be able to name the parts of the body and understand the process of human reproduction
  • Be prepared for puberty and the emotional and physical effect of body changes
  • Recognise and avoid exploitative relationships
  • Value, care for and respect their bodies
  • Access additional advice and support
