Safeguarding your child in school

Meldreth Primary School takes its safeguarding responsibilities extremely seriously. We understand that it is our duty to keep children safe while they are in our care and we aim to do this by establishing an ethos safety in and around all of our school activities.

Our recruitment processes are rigorous and conform to current recommended guidance. We do our utmost to ensure that only those suitable to work with children are employed or volunteer with us.

Our Code of Conduct and Safeguarding Policy set out our expectations and procedures for staff and volunteers to follow – these have been put in place to keep everybody safe. Our policies and procedures also ensure that where a child makes a disclosure about an event outside school, there are appropriate structures in place to ensure that action is taken to support the child.

A wide range of additional procedures ensure that children are kept safe:

• First Aid Policy, procedures and training
• Managing Medicines in School Policy
• Health & Safety Policies and procedures
• Race and Disability Discrimination Policies
• Fire Safety Procedures
• Positive Behaviour and Anti-Bullying Policy
• E Safety Policy
• Risk Assessments

We are lucky enough to have high numbers of volunteers visit school over the course of the school year. This includes parent volunteers, students, specialist teachers and enrichment providers.

In order to ensure that these people are suitable to work with children, enhanced DBS checks are carried out as part of our induction procedures.

If you have any concerns or questions about Safeguarding please speak to the school office (general information) or the Headteacher (specific concerns).
