Look what we've been up to
Another year begins...
Welcome to year 2. Wren class will be exploring two topics this term. Our topics will be London and Fame, Fortune & Fire. We will look at Queen Elizabeth I, Queen Victoria, our capital city and key events in its history.
Head Teacher's Award:
This week's award went to Javier for being a resilient learner, working hard to complete his maths challenge.
This week's award went to Ashton for dedication and determination in our fundamentals unit.
Every fortnight we elect a new Wren class star writer. On Friday (14.9.18) our star writer certificate went to Joni for an amazing piece of descriptive writing. Well done!
Our PE sessions are on Mondays and Fridays.
Show & Tell
Show & Tell will continue to be held on a Friday afternoon.
Nature Detectives (with Mrs Pemberton)
Nature Detectives will be held on a Tuesday morning. Please send your child to school in their woodland clothing. When we return to school at 10.30am the children will change in to their school uniform.
See the links below for our topic web and this weeks spellings.
Week Beginning: 10th September 2018
It has been lovely seeing parents and meeting new parents this week. Thank you for coming to visit our classroom and please feel free to pop in after school.
We received our first assignment from Buckingham Palace on Monday. Our mission is top secret, however, the children have created maps to illustrate the four countries and capital cities of the UK. We had great fun using Google Earth on our new interactive whiteboard.
The Elizabeth Tower is standing tall in our book corner. The children worked hard to find items around the classroom to reuse or recycle.
Week beginning: 3rd September 2018
'The Queen was on her way to visit someone very special...'
The Queen's Hat
We had a very exciting delivery this morning. An official letter turned up with a carefully wrapped parcel.
It was a letter from the Queen!
Unfortunately, we cannot tell you too much about our mission, we are now members of Her Majesty's Secret Service after all. However, I don't think these little historians, geographers and erm... royal guards will be able to keep the secret for too long!
For more information please find our topic outline above. These have also been sent out with home learning journals.
The children have been AMAZING this week. We've had two days in our revamped classroom, I have called them Jay class countless times and they have taken to year two expectations with ease.
The Jay class teaching assistants and I would like to thank you all for the lovely gifts we received at the end of the summer term and for all your help with Nature Detectives and trips throughout the year.
On that note...
Wren class will be visiting the woods fortnightly starting from the 18th September. Mrs Pemberton will take the class in the morning. Please send your children in to school in their woodland clothes. They will change in to their school uniform after the session. A sign up form for volunteers is on our class notice board (just inside the door).
