Manager's Blog 10th June

Welcome back to Preschool after the half term break, I hope you all had a rest and enjoyed family time. The children have returned full of energy and ready to play! We started our new learning focus 'Under the Sea' and have made a start on a big ocean display, so far with fish, crabs and the start of a very large octopus! We have also been searching for fish in the tuff tray, counting them, noticing patterns, breaking them out of the ice and splashing them in the water. Other activities this week have included make sea creatures with dough, threading using pasta, dancing games and listening games with Lola Leopard.

The Ladybirds group time has been about settling the children back in and building confidence in groups as they sang songs, read stories and enjoyed tap sticks.

The Dragonflies have been looking at school uniforms and talking about what going to school will be like, practicing mark making and cutting skills as well as a little trip to the secret garden.

Next week we continue to explore 'Under the Sea' as we make different animals for our ocean display, explore a seaside tuff tray, make fish wands, create boats to explore sinking and floating and many more fun activities.

A few reminders:

  • Please ensure your child has a labelled sunhat now the weather is warming up. This can be left at Preschool if you wish.
  • Can you please apply sun cream on your child before coming to preschool and we will reapply in the afternoon or as needed. Please let us know if you have provided your own.
  • We are a NUT FREE setting so please do check the children's lunchboxes, especially the snack bars, as many do contain nuts.
  • There is chicken pox around at the moment as well as other coughs and colds. If your child is unwell and unable to partake in preschool activities as normal, please do keep them at home until they are well. If your child is requiring Calpol before preschool, it may be best to remain at home. Please see our policy on caring for unwell children here.
