Welcome back and I hope you all had a lovely half term, the children have been excited to tell us what they have all been up to. The children have returned to Preschool really confident and ready for some fun and learning!
This week, we started our new learning focus of 'Under the Sea' and the children have been exploring imaginative play with the sea creatures in sand and water as well as making some paper plate octopuses, searching the garden for hidden sea creature pictures and engaging in stories all about the ocean animals. We have also enjoyed lots of time outside and the weather has finally taken a sunny turn!
To accommodate the newly warm weather, we have altered our routine to ensure the children are able to play outdoors in as much shade and cool as possible. We will now ask all the children to come inside initially and we have introduced a good morning/welcome song and registration, which supports the children going to school also. We can then have outdoor play and learning for the majority of the morning while it is cooler in the garden. We will venture out in the afternoon for a short while on hot days but then will have some quiet play time indoors when the sun is at its hottest.
Next week we continue to learning about sea creatures and the ocean and will be making some jellyfish to add to our art board. We will be trying to free the sea creatures trapped in ice and will have some ocean themed play dough. Outside we will have plenty of cool water play as well as some big block building, ocean themed tuff trays and obstacle courses.
As part of our learning this term, we would like to ask for some photos showing us the children's recent holidays or fun summer days out to share at group time. These can be added to Tapestry or emailed in.
Notes and reminders:
- Please do ensure that you apply sun cream before coming to Preschool. We can then top up as needed in the day.
- All children must have a labelled sunhat at Preschool and a labelled water bottle.
- A reminder that chocolate bars and sweets are not permitted in children's lunch boxes.
- Please check at home for any fleeces that may not be yours, we have had some labelled fleeces go missing recently.
- We are unable to allow children in earlier that their allocated session, especially at lunch times as our lunch club is a short period of time where we need to focus on those having their midday meal. We appreciate it can take us a bit of time to come to the door, but please be patient as we have often have multiple children leaving and coming in at the same time. We want to ensure children's safety at all times. Thank you.
