Manager's Blog 11th Nov

We have all been continuing our topic 'All about colours' this week and we have had some special events to celebrate that involve lots of colour!

The Butterflies have been busy making lots of poppies in different ways in celebration of Remembrance day this weekend. We have made paper plate poppies, collage poppies and painted poppies. We watched the Cbeebies video all about the day and you can find links here and here if you would like to watch this weekend. We have also started to celebrate Diwali and started to make some clay Diya's (little clay pots) as well as some Henna style hand print pictures. Some of our group times this week have included understanding why tidying up is important, developing fine motor skills using stickers and matching up shapes.

The Caterpillars have been busy making poppy pictures, exploring cloud dough in the tuff tray, making a poppy crown and making marks in glitter and sand. Their group times have included finding something red in the room, talking about different emotions, animal snap and bug sorting. They have also enjoyed a whole morning of construction using all sorts of blocks and bricks! On Monday, Caterpillars will celebrate Diwali and welcome the children to dress in bright colours. I have added a link here for you to find out more about the Diwali, the festival of lights.

Photographs

On Monday (13th) we have the school photographers in. All children in on the day will have their photo taken with and sibling/s. If your child is not in on Monday and you would like their photo taken, please bring them to reception for 9am and stay with your child.

Preschool gate

Following a security review, we now have a padlock on the green Preschool gate (in school building). This will remain locked for the entire school day. If you arrive before/after drop off and collection times, please ring the doorbell which has now been repositioned. At the end of day, the gate will be open from 3.10pm so you can come in as before and wait by the entrance.

Late collection

We kindly ask that you are on time for collection of children, both midday and at the end of the day. This can have a great impact on the running of the room if you are late. There is a late collection charge applicable should this occur. If you are going to be late due to traffic or another incident, please try and call to let us know. If you are collecting siblings from school, please collect your child from Preschool first if possible to avoid you unintentionally being late. Thank you.

Children in Need

On Friday (17th) we will be supporting Children in Need and ask that the children wear anything yellow or spotty for the day! There will be school councillors at the school gates with collection buckets so if you have £1 to donate that would be fantastic.

Reminders:

  • Please ensure children come in with a coat each day as we do plan to head outside everyday.
  • A labelled hat and pair of gloves would be great to have a preschool now the weather is changing.

Dates for the diary:

  • Monday 13th Nov - School photographs
  • Tuesday 14th Nov - Wear odd socks for anti-bullying awareness
  • Friday 17th Nov - Children in need
  • Monday 20th Nov - PTA Christmas jumper sale
