Play & Learning at Home

I am not too sure where those weeks have gone but here we are at the end of the first half of Summer term. We have had a great time at preschool learning all about lifecycles and growing. This week, we finished by looking at the lifecycle of a bat, talking about growing from small to big. We also enjoyed playing with farm small world animals, learning about the names of baby animals and matching to their mummies. We enjoyed plenty of outside play time this week in the glorious sunshine. We checked on all our flowers and plants and also planted out our new strawberries, courgettes and sunflowers. The ladybirds did some great physical skills games this week, practicing throwing and catching with a balloon! The butterflies explored colour mixing with chalks, water and paintbrushes (you may have seen their masterpieces at collection today) and also took on the pom pom challenge!

When we return, we will start a new learning focus named 'Under the Sea'. We will be making octopuses, use shells to make patterns in playdough and do some under the sea yoga and dancing. We also have a plan for the butterflies group time learning which I have attached so you can see what we will be doing up until the end of term.

Updates and reminders:

School house: work is moving on very well and we hope to be able to have a look around the house before the end of term. We will keep you updated.
Sunhats and sun cream: please bring in a labelled sun hat each day or one that can stay at preschool in our box. Also, please ensure you have applied sun cream to the children before they come to preschool.
Snack: I have attached the new snack menu so you can see what we will be enjoying to eat.
Preschool clothing: we are running very low on trousers and shorts, please can you wash and return any that have come home with you recently.
