This is your weekly roundup and again the children at Meldreth primary school have taken part in many fun filled engaging activities and have produced some amazing artwork. The children themselves are very proud of their artwork and with the help of staff members have completed an amazing new display board on the preschools learning topic of Travel and Transport. Over the past three weeks the children have really enjoyed this topic and it's been lovely to hear all about each child’s individual thoughts and experiences of when they have used transport and travel in their lives.
This week was our final week on the Transport and Travel topic and what a busy week it has been. The children created aeroplanes, cars , buses, and hot air balloons . The ladybirds took part in a role play train journey using their very own train tickets . The children went site seeing on their role play train adventure to see some of London’s famous attractions they watched with fascination videos of the famous Buckingham palace, the fireworks on the river Thames, Big ben and had a look at some big London double decker buses.
As always, we like to celebrate special events and occasions at Meldreth preschool . This week we celebrated Holi by playing with rainbow coloured playdough, mark making in brightly coloured sand and colouring in Holi colouring pictures. Another important event this week was national woman’s day, and the children used a variety of felt tips , pencils and chubby eggs to colour in a powerful word colouring picture. Next week we look forward to celebrating national science week and St Patrick’s day. On Wednesday, the 15th of March we are really looking forward to welcoming Sophia also known as “proff” from Lab tots . Proff will be giving children an exciting and educational science workshop called “wicked waves “ .
A new topic of “The great outdoors “ is to begin next week and the children will be encouraged to take part in planting seeds , exploring the mini beast tuff tray with magnifying glasses , creating bugs to display and some nature walks on the school's field.
We certainly do have another busy week ahead and hope it is both fun and educational for the children. As always if you have any questions or would like to speak to me or a staff member, please do contact us.
Reminders:
Collection times
Please ensure you are arriving on time for collection of children at the end of the day. We have very limited time to clean and prepare the room for the following day so prompt collection at 3.15pm supports us in making sure preschool is clean and ready for children the following day. We also ask that you do not arrive early for midday sessions as we have a very limited time for children to have lunch at lunch club and this can be disturbed if children are arriving early.
Named items
Please make sure all clothing, bottles and lunchboxes are clearly labelled as we often have duplicate items, and this can cause confusion.
If your child borrows any of our spare preschool clothing, please can i ask you return it back to preschool as soon as possible as we are running very low on spare clothing. If you have any clothing at home that is no longer wanted or needed, we would be very grateful if you could donate these to preschool’s spare clothing box . We are especially very short of trousers.
If your child is focus child you will receive a focus child form to fill in the week before they are due to be focus child .Please return all focus child sheets back to preschool as soon as possible to enable keyworkers to set up an engaging environment to support your children’s interests and continue to encourage their development.
