This week we have been learning all about 2D shapes and have enjoyed lots of different activities to recognise and learn the shape names. This has included a shape hunt, making shape faces, using shape blocks to build and looking at shapes on the light board, making shapes in the coloured sand with sticks and a shape matching game. We have enjoyed lots of sensory messy play this week as we explored different colours of play dough, oats and coloured sand, leaves and snow dough. We have ended our week celebrating Children in Need as we all wore our pyjama's and did lots of Pudsey themed activities.
Next week we are practicing counting as we focus on numbers 1-5 then 1-10. We have activities planned to use numbers at the dough table, at rhyme time and as we build. We also have activities planned to support the children in developing their individual learning and you will see these on Tapestry.
The Ladybirds will be focusing their group times on singing and musical instruments to develop communication and listening skills while the Dragonflies are going to revisit the Preschool rules and our emotions.
Next week we will also be starting our Christmas celebrations as on Thursday we join Decoration Day with the school. On this day children are welcome to wear their Christmas jumpers or outfits. Our theme for the day is a winter tale and we have chosen the story Ten Little Lights. This can be found on Twinkl if you want to read it at home. We will be creating some winter displays and having lots of festive fun! To join the school in their activities, you are welcome to bring in a filled jar (sweets/chocolates) on this day to add to the sweetie jar tombola as part of the PTA event.
Thursday is also the day to bring in your donations for the Preschool hamper as part of the PTA Christmas raffle. Each class donate items of a certain colour for their hamper and Preschool colour is WHITE. If you would like to donate you can pass items in to Preschool any day next until Thursday.
