This week's round up - 7th January

Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely Christmas break, we have enjoyed listening to what the children have been up to. As we return, we are having a couple of weeks to settle back into our routines and get used to being with each other again as well as welcoming other families to our Preschool. We have been enjoying relaxed activities this week as we made glittery painting pictures, mixed lentils in the dough, made marks in coloured sand and explored rice crispies in our tuff tray. The children were very excited to find ice and frost in the garden this week and this has sparked an interest we will follow for a few weeks. We have started to make patterned gloves/mittens by drawing around the children's hands and have been creating sparkly, frosty pictures at the art table.

Over the next week, we will be observing the children's new interests and planning next steps for their learning and play at Preschool. This will then inform our planning moving forward in the half term. We do have a focus of Winter and hope that we may get some more frosty, icy and even snowy weather to explore! Over the coming weeks you will also hear about some Ladybird and Dragonfly activities as we begin to focus on the children's and groups varying interests, needs and strengths.

Now that the weather has taken a frosty turn, please ensure the children have wellies, gloves and hats that are clearly labelled as we do go out in (almost) every weather!

We continue to keep the room ventilated at all times so do ensure the children have some layers on to keep them warm.

As always, labelled water bottles are needed for each child every day and only water to be provided please rather than juice.

As Omicron still remains around us, please continue to be vigilant in noticing the signs and symptoms of Covid-19 and complete a lateral flow test and shows a negative result before your child attends preschool.

As always at this time of year, the usual winter bugs are hanging around so please ensure your child is well enough to attend Preschool before bringing them in. We have had quite a few confirmed cases of Chicken pox during the winter break so this is something else to be aware of.

We hope you have had a restful break and are looking forward to an exciting first few weeks back at Preschool.
