Our Curriculum Design

Our school is unique: not only do we strive to be a brilliant centre of learning for your child, we also thrive on opportunities to be research-engaged in order that our staff have the best learning opportunities for themelves.

At Meldreth Primary School, we believe that an ambitious, exciting curriculum is the key to transforming chidren's lives and devloping them into lifelong learners. Fostering children's curiosity will gives them a desire to learn that both enriches them and equips them with the skills, values and attitudes needed to find their place in modern Britain and the wider world.

Our curriculum has been designed with great care by our staff collectively in order that there are opportunities for children to acquire deep and meaningful knowledge and explore a broad range of skills to apply their knowledge , preparing them for life beyond primary school.

Children's  learning is driven by high aspirations so that the can succeed academically. owever, the curriculum is also our most important tool in developing children mre broadly; supporting their creative and sporting aspirations. We help children to build a moral foundation through the explict teaching of values that are compatible with modern British Values in ordre that they develop compassion, respect, tolerance and forgiveness.

We follow FFT success For All Phonics scheme and use FFT resources to support and embed spelling and reading in Key Stage 2.

We aim:

  • For each child to fulfil their potential socially, intelectually, physically, spiritually and emotionally in a secure, happy environment
  • For all children to have high levels of understanding of a wide range of subjects
  • To deliver a broad and balanced curriculum where learning experiences enable children to become independent, confident nd responsible learners
  • To develop high quality literacy, numeracy and communication (oracy) skills
  • To have respoect for religious and moral values, encouraging self deiscipline and a caring responsible attitude towards others
  • To introduce children to the world, through scientific enquiry and to help them towards an understanding of the interdependence of people both today and in the past

These form a key part of what makes Meldreth Primary School a supportive, effective and exciting learning environment.

Our curriculum fulfils our duties in the Equality Act and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations. Parents and prospective parents are welcome to contact the Headteacher to discuss any aspect of our curriculum.
