Year 5 - Exploring what we mean by belief
We recognise the important role that Religious Education plays in the personal development of our pupils. Whilst it has a particular contribution to their spiritual development, it also promotes the moral, social and cultural development of children.
In Religious Education we aim to provoke challenging questions, encourage children to explore their own beliefs, enable children to build their sense of identity and belonging and teach children to develop respect for others.
At our school, Religious Education (RE) forms a core part of a broad and balanced curriculum, fostering spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development. However, we fully recognise and respect the legal rights of parents and carers regarding this subject.
In accordance with the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, parents and carers have the statutory right to withdraw their children from any or all parts of Religious Education lessons and collective worship. Before making a final decision, we encourage parents to contact the school office to arrange a brief, informal discussion with the Headteacher. This ensures you can review our local RE syllabus, learning objectives, and lesson formats to make an informed choice.
