At our setting, we aim to create a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
Our vision is for all children to:
- Become confident communicators
- Grow into independent learners
- Engage in shared experiences with joy and curiosity
- Form positive relationships with others
- Enjoy inclusive experiences that reflect and respect their individual needs and backgrounds
We believe that these foundations help children build the skills and confidence they need to succeed now and in the future.
The Characteristics of Effective Teaching and Learning
At our setting, we recognise that children develop at their own pace. We carefully plan and adapt our practice to meet the needs of every child, guided by the three key characteristics of effective teaching and learning:
Playing and ExploringChildren learn by investigating, trying new things, and feeling confident to ‘have a go’. They are curious, motivated, and eager to explore the world around them. |
Active LearningChildren stay focused and are encouraged to keep trying, even when things get tricky. They gain satisfaction from their efforts and take pride in their achievements. |
Creating and Thinking CriticallyChildren are supported to develop their own ideas, make connections between their experiences, and plan how to solve problems. They learn to think deeply and independently. |
How Children Learn Best in the Early Years
We believe children learn most effectively through first-hand experiences, meaningful interactions with others, physical activity, and play. Our approach is rooted in observation and ongoing assessment of each child’s development, needs, and interests.
Our curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Continuous Provision
Our learning environment is thoughtfully planned to support independent exploration, creativity, and purposeful play. Children have access to a rich variety of opportunities including:
- Imaginative and role play
- Creative activities and art materials
- Number games and early maths resources
- Book sharing and early literacy experiences
- Outdoor learning and physical play
Children are encouraged to take responsibility for their environment by looking after resources, tidying up, and respecting shared spaces. This helps them develop independence and a sense of belonging in the setting.
