At School

As part of your child’s curriculum and the development of their computer skills, we provide access to the internet only during teacher-supervised lessons. We strongly believe that the use of the web and email is hugely worthwhile and an essential tool for children as they grow up in the modern world.

There are always concerns about children having access to undesirable materials, so we have taken positive steps to deal with this risk in school. Our school internet access provider operates a filtering system that restricts access to inappropriate materials. In addition, open online browsing is limited to our oldest pupils, who are taught how to assess a link’s safety and the validity of information on a web page.

At the start of the school year, each class discusses how we can all stay safe online and the dangers we may face on the internet. Pupils are taught how to respond to online risks through our PSHE programme and through dedicated Internet Safety Week activities and assemblies. We then ask every child to follow our school online safety expectations when working on our iPads and Chromebooks.
