Our Sun Safety Commitment

Sun Safe Schools Programme at Meldreth Primary School

Meldreth Primary School is taking part in the Sun Safe Schools programme to support children’s health and well-being. While some sun exposure is beneficial, protection is essential—especially between 11 am and 3 pm when UV levels are highest. Without proper care, sunburn can cause long-term skin damage and increase the risk of skin cancer, which is largely preventable.

How Parents Can Help:

  • Provide SPF 30+ broad-spectrum sunscreen (UVA 4-star rating if applicable), clearly labelled.
  • Ensure your child brings a suitable sun hat (bucket or legionnaire style).

What We Do:

  • Follow a Sun Protection Policy to create a safe environment.
  • Teach children about sun safety and how to protect their skin.

With your support, we can help children enjoy the sun safely and build healthy habits for the future.
