Teaching Assistant

Meldreth Primary School is a welcoming village School providing high-quality education for children aged 4-11 years. 

We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and caring Teaching Assistant to join our friendly primary school team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting children’s learning, development, and wellbeing within a positive and inclusive school environment.

The role includes:

  • As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pupils to help create an engaging and supportive learning experience. You will provide classroom support, encourage pupil participation, and help children achieve their full potential both academically and socially.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the classroom teacher in facilitating the active participation of children in the academic and social activities of the school.
    • Contribute to raising standards of achievement for all pupils.
    • Assist with the planning and delivery of learning activities.
    • Provide support to individual pupils and small groups to promote learning and progress.
    • Encourage positive behaviour and foster an inclusive learning environment.
    • Support pupils’ emotional, social, and personal development.
    • Help prepare and organise classroom resources and learning materials.
    • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and other professionals to support pupil outcomes.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about helping children learn and succeed.

  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Has experience working with primary-aged children (desirable but not essential).

Hours: 8:40am–3:10pm, Monday to Friday (term time only) - 1 year temporary role in the first instance
Salary: £13.26-£13.47 per hour (Point 5–6) 
Start date: September 1st 2026
