Frequently Asked Questions

At Meldreth Primary School, we understand that parents and carers often have questions — and we want you to feel comfortable asking anything, no matter how small it may seem. No question is ever silly, so please don’t hesitate to contact us. In the meantime, here are answers to some of the most commonly asked questions:

What happens if I’m late dropping off or picking up my child?
  • Morning Drop-Off:
Children should arrive by 8:40am and go straight to class when the bell rings. After this time, the school gates are locked, and any late arrivals must be signed in at the front office.

  • Afternoon Pick-Up:
If you’re running late for the 3:10pm pick-up, please call the school office to let us know. If you're going to be later than 3:20pm, please arrange alternative collection, as staff may not be available to supervise your child beyond this time.

Where can I park?
  • The school car park is for staff and official visitors only.

  • Parents and carers can park in the community centre car park across the road from school. Please cross safely with your child — do not let them cross the road alone.

  • Parking on Elin Way or the High Street is very limited. Please do not:

    • Double park

    • Park on yellow zig-zags

    • Block driveways or property entrances

You can find more guidance in our School Travel Plan, available on our website.

Can my child cycle or scoot to school?

Yes! Children are welcome to cycle or scoot to school, but they must dismount at the school gate and walk the rest of the way.

  • Cycle racks are located at the front of the school.

  • Scooter pods are available by the front entrances.

Can my child bring toys or other items into school?

We strongly discourage children from bringing personal toys or objects to school. These items are often valuable (sentimentally or financially) and can easily be misplaced, causing upset.

  • Any personal items brought to school are the child’s responsibility.

  • All belongings (clothing, lunch boxes, school bags, etc.) should be clearly labelled with your child’s name.
