Physical Education

At Meldreth, both staff and children are passionate about Physical Education (PE) and the importance of being active. Our curriculum includes Games, Dance, Gymnastics, Athletics, Fundamentals, Swimming and Outdoor Adventurous Activities, with children enjoying over two hours of PE each week.

We believe that sport plays an important role in supporting physical and emotional wellbeing, developing confidence, resilience, teamwork and sportsmanship. We provide opportunities for all children, regardless of ability, to enjoy physical activity and take part in competitive sport.

Physical activity is encouraged throughout the school day through initiatives such as The Daily Mile, 5-a-day Fitness, GoNoodle, active learning and organised lunchtime activities. Our successful Year 5 and 6 Play Leader programme and sports coach sessions further encourage children to be active, develop leadership skills and enjoy being part of a team.
