Grafham Water Residential Trips

6th January 2023

Grafham Water is an outdoor learning residential venue run by Cambridgeshire County Council.  Based on the shore of the UK’s finest inland sailing venue, the Centre offers an exciting but safe environment to learn in, highlighted by the stunning natural backdrop of the 80 hectare Grafham Water Nature Reserve. The area is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) which the children love to explore!

While at Grafham Water, the children take part in many small group activities (led by a trained leader).  These include; whammal sailing, kayaking, orienteering, high ropes, low rope, crate stacking, mountain biking and the bike track.  All activities are fully risk-assessed and there is a first aider present at all times during the day.

Children have hearty, healthy meals throughout the day and are taught to set the table and have quiet discussions about their activities.  The centre is fully aware that some children may have intolerances and/or allergies and are fully equipped for these dietary requirements.  The evening entertainment revolves around having team-building games or a cinema night with hot chocolate whilst wearing our pyjamas!

What our children said about their visit:

"I enjoyed raft building because I got to spend time with my friends and solve my own problems."

"I enjoyed Grafham because we got to be completely independent with our friends and had to help each other make our own beds"
