This week's round up - 6th November

What a week it has been! There have been some changes to our wonderful setting this week with the country going into another lockdown to help protect us all. Sadly we did have to close for two days so that we could plan for us to be open during these four weeks as safely as possible for everyone. We now have plans in place to reopen from Monday for our three year olds and what fun you will have! There will be lots of creative activities, messy play, exercising and imaginative play. The focus over the next four weeks will be on prime area skills:

  • Communication and language development
  • Personal social and emotional development
  • Physical development

This is also a wonderful opportunity for our older children to experience some new experiences and new faces as we welcome Mrs Anne McCrossan to our team. Alongside Jolene and Marie, Anne will be supporting the children in their play and learning and will be a familiar face when the children enter Meldreth Primary School next September. Both myself and Katie will not be there with you for a few weeks but we are confident all the children are going to have a wonderful time at Preschool and we look forward to hearing all about it!

Over the past week the children have been learning about different celebrations as we learned about Diwali and Bonfire night. The children had fun making Rangoli designs, Henna patterns, Fireworks pictures, rockets and learning about the different traditions different families celebrate. We have added on to Tapestry an activity for the weekend to celebrate Remembrance Day, so why not make some beautiful poppies to display in your window. Then take a walk and see how many you can spot near where you live.

In light of the new lockdown in place across the country, it is more important than ever to remember that we all play a part in keeping us all safe and well. Please remember to wear your face covering when collecting and dropping children to preschool and maintain a safe distance from others. The children continue to be very skilled at hand washing and will carry on practicing good hygiene and the staff team will continue in their increased cleaning to help our setting remain safe for all of us. The staggered drop off times continue to be in place:

8.45am: drop for children with siblings at school

9.10am: drop off for all other children

Collection for the end of the day is available from 2.50pm-3pm.

We hope you all have a wonderful week and enjoy lots of fun play time in our wonderful Preschool environment.
