The governing boards of Hauxton Primary School and Meldreth Primary and Preschool are proposing that our two schools join together in a formal federation beginning 1 September 2025. Before any final decision is made, we are seeking the views of:
- Pupils and their families
- Members of staff
- Stakeholders within the wider community
What Is a Federation? Under the Education Act 2002, schools and local authorities can propose to form a federation.
- Each schools will remain separate institutions with their own names, sites, and identities
- Each school will continue to be inspected by Ofsted independently
- Each school continues to report its own results
- A single governing board will oversee both schools and support strategic development
Why We Are Proposing This Federation - The governing boards believe that forming a federation will:
- Enhance collaboration and sharing of best practice across schools
- Provide greater continuity in leadership and staff development
- Support stronger outcomes for pupils through joint resources and expertise
- Ensure sustainable leadership and governance for the future
Our Vision - Together, Hauxton Primary and Meldreth Primary and Preschool aim to build a partnership that:
- Maintains the unique character and identity of each school
- Strengthens our commitment to high-quality education
- Promotes a shared ethos of community, inclusion, and lifelong learning
